A-gathering she will go!

Grrrr

Just wanted to see if anyone else had DC's that do this.

Whenever my DD(4) gets a small bag (party bag, toy bay, old handbag etc) she has to fill it with stuff, a barbie shoe, a piece of a puzzle, a paintbrush, a toy car, a lilttle people figuure, a toy cup...you name it, any small object that will fit.

It's driving me nuts as we have several toys and games now with peices missing because of her 'gathering' things and it is actually a regular thing for me to say 'stop gathering'.

In fact I have started to take away any incomplete toys and games because by gathering she has lost bits and they are now useless.

Not to mention when she done we have to spend agaes putting all the stuff away again (if it's not already been lost).

I'm probably being a bit tight about this, but it's turned into a two or three times a day occurence.

Yeeeees and it drives me insane.

My mum calls DD 'the Bag Lady'

Practising for a lifetimes shopping maybe?

Or possibly just (another) one of those apparently insane things that children do.

MY DD does this too. I have found a solution though! She has a box with toy mobile, fake make up, purse, play money, play jewellery, - lots of different ones and when she wants to fill a bag - I get her to fill it from this one box - then at the end of the day we just empty it back in to the same box.

yep ds does it (3.3)

He calls it 'making presents' or sometimes 'tidying'.

He then presents me with said items - I have to go through the contents (often bits of his dinner, odd bits of toys etc) with a 'oh darling that's wonderful' look

Still it's replacing the 'stuff wrapped in whatever he can find' presents.

Ooh Jaynerae, what a fab idea, we have all that stuff so i am off to make up a 'bag filling box' too.

Ta!

Also nice to know I am not the only one!

DD (2.4) does this too. Not with any particular aim in mind - she just likes to fill any bags she can find with whatever stuff she can find.

My DS1 does this. Said bag then needs to watch TV with him, go in the car with him, and to bed with him. Woe betide DS2 if he touches it.

LOL - yes DD (3.7) does the 'making presents' thing too ... and often little boxes or bags are found stuffed full of little 'treasures' in odd places.
