Baby rolling over in her sleep at only 15 weeks

Hi there. my DD has just started rolling fully over to lie on her tummy. She is doing this at every opportunity during the day but also at night. Needless to say the nap/night time is a problem as she gets frustrated and cries out. Even if we roll her back seconds later she just starts rolling again. I don't think she has a problem with rolling back (onto her back), what she appears to be doing is trying to pull herself along on her tummy. Her little legs pump away to propel her along but her arms are not strong enough yet to pull herself along (hardly suprising at 15 wks !) She grasps the sheets and tries so hard to move, only getting nowhere other than around in a circle. Has anyone else had this problem? We need a sleep solution ! She seems happy enough lying on her front when we're around and can lift her head right up. However on her own she gets very upset and we're all missing out on sleep Often she tries to roll over when she's fast asleep so even when we've laid her down on her back asleep the rolling starts. Any ideas?

Are you swaddling her?

my ds (16 weeks) is the same. amby natures nest. they can't roll over in it and the bouncing when they move lulls them back to sleep.

Thankfully the rolling is now only during the day, she seems to have settled into sleeping on her back. Phew. She can't yet roll herself back over onto her back though and we have to watch her try and try to heave herself back. The only consolation we have is that every day she lifts her head further up and uses her arms more....the frustration is quite comical though ! With regard to the swaddling, she has resisted this from day one. We managed to swaddle her a few times in the first few weeks but she would always get an arm free and we'd find her looking very upset with it pinned to her ear. Hence we gave us swaddling pretty quick ! she has always been a very active baby.

What's the problem? If she can roll tummy down she can roll onto her back, so there's so danger of her getting stuck face down and smothering. The Boy started rolling over at about that age.

vangough you can try making a trough using pillows under the mattress at either side of her to prevent rolling full stop or you have to let her work it out herself. I would try the former if she seems to struggle to turn back over.

Bumping this as we have the same problem with a very wriggly girl. She's been rolling onto her front for weeks, but she hasn't sussed out the, apparently easier, trick of rolling onto her back. Thankfully she's happy to fall asleep on her back at first, but then when she wakes at 5am she rolls onto her front. It's fine for the first 5-10 minutes, we don't hear her, then her back starts aching and she starts to cry.
I'll try the pillows, but her change mat is trough shaped and she can roll over on that.

Alternatively... any great tips for teaching babies to roll onto their backs? She's managed it a couple of times, but it was fluke.
