Not very interested in crawling...is this normal?

My DD is 9 1/2 months and not really moving?! She sits ups and will stretch to get things but if something is out of her reach, she just forgets about it and finds something that is in her reach! She hates being on her tummy and just cries while sliding herself backwards on the wood floor. She does love standing, however, but i have to stand her at things as she can't pull up. She also, a bit disturbingly, likes to sit and rock vigourously back and forwards. Is this normal?? People are starting to ask me what shes doing!

Shes met all her other milestones but I'm worried thats there's something wrong with her.

Thanks

dd1 was 11 months at least before she showed any signs of crawling. She didn't walk 'til 20 months but all was fine.

imo they are all different. dd used to enjoy sitting contentedly and "chatting" - a bit like her mum.

Don't know about the rocking - ask your hv if concerned at all.

Have an 11 month old who isn't even sitting if that's any comfort. He's just more than happy to watch the work go by as it is rather than in trying to get a better view/go explore.

My ds never crawled or even tried to.

He started pulling up himself about 11months then walked with someone holding both hands(back breaking).

Sounds like your dd may be about to be a bum shuffler,I wouldn't worry if I were you.

Forgot to say my dd hated being on her tummy too and the nursery nurse who ran our baby group was forever going on about it i.e insisting that I should make her anyway. Our hv is a lot more relaxed in these things though fortunately.

Not than anyone seems to see much of their hv any more due to cutbacks but that is a whole new thread in itself!

Neither my sister nor I crawled at all. We apparently sat around on our bottoms until 14 months, and then started to walk. I think that was very kind of us, in hindsight - could still be plonked for ages. Our own daughters had different ideas.

Hi, My DD2 is nearly 9 months and not interested in crawling yet. Moves about in a circle but thats about it! She does rock every now and again as if she will launch into crawling mode but she never gets there.

DD1 didn't crawl until she was 11 months and that was only because she wanted to pick up a filled nappy sack!? Within minutes of crawling she was half way up the stairs to so it was that instant!

Would be nice for DD2 ro crawl as I think she is getting frustrated but I think she will be similar to her sisiter re the crawling so not to worried for now - enjoy being able to take you eye of her for a few seconds as once she starts crawling you won't be able to!

DD never really crawled. She started bottom shuffling when she was about 14mnths. She didn't walk properly until 2.6mnths. But is perfectly healthy.

Ds didn't crawl (or show any inclination to) until he was 14 months. 3 days later he escaped from me and fell down the stairs! (I was so unused to having a moving baby ). Walked not long after that.

that rockign sounds like she might get into bum shuffling.

My dd never crawled, but liked being stood up against things and went straight into cruising in the end. I also think it's too early to worry - 9 mnths isn't that late.

My DD never really crawled. She got it at about 10 months but always hated it and went straight to walking - still not walking on her own at 13 mo but walks everywhere holding on to one finger. She would still rather wait to be walked than crawl. Just hates it. I don't think you need to worry.

it's very common these days as we all put our dc's on backs (beacsue of SIDS), I really really wouldn't worry, my ds is same age as yours and isn't crawling but loves to stand. He might go straight to walking might not.....having friends whose babies are mobile I'd say make the most of it!
