Can't think of a polite way to put this, so here goes

My 13 month old DD is trying to stick various things up her fanjo.

Not a surprising development, as during my last period she was very interested in the appearance and disappearance of my mooncup.

I don't want to give her issues as I know it is just another body bit for her and natural body investigation.

I try and gently distract her onto another activity, is this the right approach ?

That's what I do!

My dd is constantly fiddling with hers - "That tickles me Mummy!

Distraction the only way I think

(Oh and we have had mooncup interest too - she thought it was a hat!)

Saturday 13th going wedding dress shopping with sis during the day but I think we are free saturday night and we are off to my bro's sunday lunch time.

Saturday 20th SIL visiting overnight.

DS2 once had a friend to play and came down to announce she had stuck some beads up her bum , fortunately her mum had stayed for a cuppa and dealt with the situation.

Think it's just an exploratory phase and distraction probably good. I suppose only bad thing could be she might get an infection if soemthing did get stuck.

Sounds like right approach. And if you always make the next activity , 'and now you need to wash your hands like mummy does after using mooncup or going looloo' (or whatever..) that might just put her off bothering

True they do fiddle, especially in the bath when there is alot of compare and contrast type convos - but so far nothing has got stuck.

I worked with kids at a residential school for a few years, objects inserted into 'bits' include - liquorice torpedo(male), lego (female), travel size showergel bottle (female), liquorice lace (male), pen lid (male) marbles (male and female). Boys worse than girls IME, and the staff at A&E have seen it all before!

ds2 (20mo) was v v interested in my mooncup this time, and was most perplexed when it disappeared and didn't come back.

boys are equally bad - i agree with that. how they can hump so many different bits of the sofa has to be seen to be believed.

erm.. as in, thats also what i thought, not, I do it too ...

my niece also went through a phase of sticking all sorts up there. She was 2 at the time. crayons, dolls arms etc... she has stopped now thankfully.

and trust me, a&e have seen it ALL and worse before...

most popular orifice being noses... sweep stake as to what foreign body is up said nose is usually quite amusing.

on of my pals i trained with still works in pæds a&e and had 2 disappearing barbie shoes, one up each nostril... little girl more upset that they didnt match!

OK - i am confused as to why you guys would be showing very young children some very adult things like inserting things up things.

Surely they don't need to know these things go on at such an early stage? Too much too soon?
