Very quick question about pigeon toes?

Should I be worried that my 13 month old walks with marked pigeon toes? Her toes really point in. Is this normal as they learn to walk or should I consult my HV (something I usually avoid doing at all costs)?

Don't worry, very common and in most cases children grow out of this. I would mention it to your HV and perhaps ask for a referall when she's a little older. HTH

Thanks you LMB. I am just paranoid as DH has slightly knock knees. I want her to have inherited my family's straight legs!

My DS2 has pigeon toes and he's just turned 3.

I think it's genetic as my brother and I had them and so did my father. My mother took me to doctors about it when I was about 7 or 8 and the thing which cured it was roller skating and dancing lessons (ballet and jazz ballet). I think the ankles just need to be strengthened.

My brother's toes were much worse than mine and he didn't do dancing (or roller skating - I don't know why my parents didn't buy him a pair of skates) but he grew out of it by the time he was about 13.

I'm not too worried about DS2 and I'm hoping that it will improve as his ankles get stronger.
