TV watching, hmmmm am I being too middle classed / neurotic about this?

Ds, 2 loves Thomas the tank and Cars. Has a few dvds and a few of the toys and loves to play ( v sweetly and on his own) with them.
All normal so far.

But every so often he gets obssessed with a particular dvd and asks to watch it all the time. Am doing lots of other nice things ( park, play gym, books, garden) But he would still rather just watch these dvds. over and over again.

So is this a phase? Is it damaging? Should I just enjoy the peace and let him watch? Does he need this 'down' time as he is so active the rest of the time? Have even talked about a household ban on tv as I don't think the rest of us would mind/notice...

let him watch it - don't worry, it's normal and perfectly ok (the number of times I sat through The Railway Children....)

Same here only it was Stuart Little. So long as he does do other things for most of the day I wouldn't worry about it.

Oh yes.
We've had this with The Wiggles, Thomas and other various tv things.

Atm its disney cars although its more the toys rather than watching the dvd but dd is 4.

Why don't you try a 2 week ban on tv. Just to see if you prefer it.

It's a phase. It hasn't been damaging to my children. Enjoy the peace and let him watch. Thomas the Tank was my eldest's favourite and that was 20years ago
The latest 'repeat' is my 4yo obsession with Mr. Ben and Button Moon. Before that it was Lazytown.
