Congenital Hypothyroidism

Hi there,
I haven't used mumsnet for ages, but thought I would reintroduce myself to it after listening to other friends of mine talking about it.

Is there anyone out there who has a child with congenital hypothyroidism. My little girl is 4 now and has it.

Would love to hear from you

Hi
I didn't have this as a child so presume mine isn't congenital. Not much help but I do have hypothyroidism.
As an adult it is totally controllable and only a problem if undiagnosed.

I am no expert but imagine it must be the same for children - you just replace the thyroxine that your body would naturally produce with artificial thyroxine and there aren't normally any side effects.

Not sure I've helped much as of course it could be different in children.
