Behaviour/development

Is there something wrong with 3.5 yr old ds. He keeps falling out of bed? Odd isn't it?

He made transition to bed without cot sides around 4-5 months ago. He should have got the hang of it by now shouldn't he? and yet he falls out of bed frequently - about once per week. He just fell out 5 minutes ago, and did the same yesterday

Can you not get him a bedside? the tomy bed guard ones?

Awww poor lil fella!

Maybe he just dreams alot and rolls about?

I could get him bed guards - but should he need them still at his age?

I am probably being silly - what's it matter eh as long as he doesn't fall out of bed? (but at back of my mind is the fact that I wish he was proficient at not falling out of bed, because it's a bit of a worry when we stay in hotel rooms and apartments on holiday - some of which have marble floors etc)

Does he mind falling out? Or is it the case that if he falls out of bed he gets picked up, cuddled, tucked back in etc. Because he might be rolling out for the sheer amusement value.
Otherwise, maybe he's just a very wriggly sleeper. Some folks are - pity whoever he ends up sharing his future bed with

My DS nearly 4 still falls out of bed every now and then. He sleeps very very soundly. I am not concerned.

hmc - I once managed to roll out of a top bunkbed at school - it had the proper "guards" on the side as they do - but somehow while wriggling we think I must have made a "ramp" with my duvet and rolled straight over the top of the guard and fell onto the floor (bringing duvet down on top of me !).

And my DB (must be a family thing ) once fell head first off of one of those really high bunkbeds while on cubscout camp....straight onto a concrete floor - how he never knocked himself out is a mystery to everyone concerned - but he did have a whopping great "bump" on his head.

No he doesn't like falling out of bed - cries in his sleep when it happens.

Okay - that's helpful. I had no basis of comparison before - well I had dd who made transition to a bed at 22 months and has fallen out only 3 times all within first fortnight....which is why I though it was odd.

Guess some people sleep really deeply and move around a lot....
