My 11 week ds has always enjoy walks in the pram. now after 10 mins of walking he cries. so i stop and feed him but really i think he just wants to see what's going on around! is he too young for the buggy? i have a mamas and papas pliko pramette.

As long as he's fairly reclined, and seems happy, I don't see the harm in trying it. I'd limit it to an hour max to start with though

Does the buggy lie flat? If so, then I can't see any reason why not (I never had a pram as such). Once he can sit, then a normal upright buggy should be fine.

The other thing to try would be a sling/baby carrier of some kind - I had a wilkinet which my dd2 loved being in.

it doesn't go completely flat.

i have a kari-me sling which is great except for when i do the shopping, then i really need the pram/bug to put shopping on.

DS is the same, he has been in the buggy attachment of his 'wheels' for a couple of weeks now, is much happier.
At one point we were taking him out in the pram, taking the sling with us as well so that when he got fed up with not being able to see out, we would put him in that and push the pram separately.
That was clearly ridiculous so we tried him in his buggy, he is well supported, can be quite well reclined and it faces me so he can see out but also see me. He is now happy as Larry.
He was about 13 weeks when we did this.

Have you tried a sling?

My DD was just the same!
I used to slightly recline her in the buggy with the head support bit in place.
In the house she was the same, later on I bought a blow up baby play ring she could be propped up in, it was a god send.

have you got a pram toy? something for him to look at, might buy you a couple of weeks if buggy doesnt go flat, but maybe double check the instructions, i thought m and p pramettes did fully recline, but poss only when seat is forward facing

Oops sorry just read you mentioned sling already

I had the same Emzy! And when we bumped the pram quite vigorously down some steps we got disapproving looks for being so violent with DS's 'twin'!

Toy is a good idea, btw- that bought us a couple of weeks with DS, we hung something from his pram over his head which he found fascinating..

I went straight to the Maclaren Techno pretty much at birth with dd1 because I'd had a real old mess of a caesarean and couldn't cope with anything heavy. It reclines to almost flat. Dd1 was absolutely fine. Embarrassingly I've totally forgotten what we did with dd2!! Think prob the sling a lot for the first few weeks then the buggy. Shows how daffy I was feeling then.

ok just checked out buggy option and seems to go pretty much flat. he's got jingly dangly things from the buggy but i think he's bored of those too.

gonna try the bug style and see how it goes... (taking sling just incase!)

well that was a bloody nightmare. he was ok until we got to the shops (about 10 mins), then he howled so much i had to carry him. however i forgot the sling. in the end i had to ask some old dear in a shop to hold him whilst i changed it back into a pram so at least other people couldn't see him screaming his head off . back to the sling i spose...

Have you thought of putting the carseat on (even though you are not going in the car).

Both mine loved it - they can see what is going on around them because they are slightly elevated and tilted.

our car seat isn't compatible with the pram unfortuately. he seemed to like the buggy setting at first but then got really cross. i hope he'll grow out of this behaviour... maybe it's a phase...?

I'd say he's possibly bored. Is there any way you can put the puschair on a semi-recline so he can see a bit?

Havins said that ds2 is now 18 months and gets totally bored and screams around shops!

yeah i put the seat up and he seemed to like that, for a little while. problem is every 10 mins or so he starts howling. so a short journey now takes a long time. i just can't bear to listen to him crying so i stop in coffee shops to cuddle/feed/calm him down. it's costing me a fortune! and i feel stupid going in coffee shops so much. it makes me not want to go out at all

Hi Emzy
We have this for DS. It's fab, it fits across most pushchairs, and you can adjust the angle of it so that the toys are the right height. We have it angled so DS can reach them and play with them. Maybe something like that might help, don't know if you have something at the moment which your DS can actually reach?

I have same pram and my ds got bored of laying flat, even with toy attachment - so changed it to buggy at about 12 wks. He is a big boy, and rarely sleeps in day, even when in buggy, so think he just wanted to sit up better and see what was going on around him! Also think he got quite hot and confined when it was in pram position.

tey carrying him in a ringsling or something like that, maybe that would make a difference.

chankins, ds is the same, very alert and quite a big boy. even when we have cuddles he likes to be sitting up so he can see the world. going to persevere with the buggy and get one of those toys today. thanks for your advice everyone.

just got back from shopping. he definitely likes the new pram toy (thanks flowerybb) but it only amused him for an extra 5-10 mins. however, on the way back, i had put him in the sling as he'd been crying on the bus and he fell asleep. then i transferred him into the buggy and put a muslin over the hood to protect him from the sun. he woke up after a while but was quite happy in his 'tent' for about 25mins is it possible that he is overstimulated by the outside world? or was it a one off? lol he was so happy in there, when we got home i left him in there whilst i made a drink and put the shopping away.
