autism hyperlexia

hello
my son of 4and a half has been diagnosed as autistic i have been looking on the web and found out a little about hyperlexia which is to do with being an early reader and very motivated towards text and letters .it s not much recognised in the uk but i wondered if anyone knows anything about it or any specialists dealing with it

My ds1 is now 7 and has a diagnosis of autism. He was a very early reader and would read out words that interested him from around 2.5yrs old - 6mths before he started talking. He doesn't have an official diagnosis of hyperlexia but it's been mentioned several times over the past couple of years during appointments.

There's another MNer who has a ds with hyperlexia over on the SN board too.
