My DS has just learned how to do a standy up pee - but now he just walks out into the back garden and has a pee. I caught him standing on my back door step just peeing onto the patio!!! How do I get this to stop. It happens so quickly that by the time I get to him he's already done it. He did it out the front the other morning as we were going out to the car and my neighbour was out washing his car and saw him pee in my front garden. It's making me laugh reading this thread - but it's also really annoying!!

My son did this at this stage as well. Could you put a potty outside for him to pee in? If this doesn't work, could you ask him to do it in a grid instead? I can guarantee, when the weather gets colder, he will soon come indoors!

have no answers but story that might make you feel better - my daughter (3) was playing in park with cousins, i was having chat with sis when suddenly poker face lady shouts "who's child is this?" look over to find my child semi naked with pooh incriminatingly close. As i go shame faced to retieve my child the woman adds "and she was trying to cover it up with grass" make mental note to self - child must spend less time with cats

My ds1 did this alot when he first learnt how to pee standing up but seemed to grow out of it. However I had ds2 in april and ds1 (now 4yo, just) seems to have regressed and I was just this evening moaning on my post natal thread about him standing in the back doorway (right next to downstairs loo) peeing onto the steps! Hes peed in a bucket that dp was soaking his cricket whites in, pees in the garden and this morning I overheard him having an argument with dd and when she wouldnt do what he wanted he threatened to pee on her

I have absolutely no advice for you just lots of sympathy! And very interested to see what advice you might receive.

What is it with boys and their willys?!

i think the garden's fine - we have a designated rosebush perhaps it's because we have a cat that i can't get worked up about this -so handy when you're at the beach/park just to go to a tree-however, weeing off the step of the off licence was bad - but better than in the off licence!

My 3yo DS wee'd on our patio once, and then rode his tricycle through the puddle repeatedly to make wheel tracks! I only knew it was him because I saw him pulling up his trousers. This wasn't a frequent occurrence, I think it was more about experimenting with this new skill.
I wish the same could be said of an adult male in my town, who at dusk was peeing into the gutter in the street, in full view of passers-by, chatting away into his mobile at the same time!!!

He pee'd at the park yesterday. Stood right next to a couple and did a pee. I laughed but was cringing too...

My Son 3.5 is always peeing in garden - I make sure he does it on the grass, not path. Sometimes he tries to do it over Stegasourus or any other dinosaur lying around - but I tell him not to, to keep it on the grass - I don't mind, he doesnt do it at Grandparents / friends houses or nursery, only at home - so not that bothered. He'll grow out of it hopefully?

I know it's just laziness. I haven't been told that he does it in the playground are pre school - so hoping that it is a phase he grows out of.
