is now quite successfully tucking his knees under his bottom as if he was about to crawl. Is this normal???

DS1 - HATED "tummy time" and consequently never really had it until he learned ot roll over (which he then did until he was over 1yr old ) - never crawled (or bum shuffled for that matter) - but mastered the walking at 18 months. He never really did the pushing head/chest up, knees tucked under thing - preferring to sit from 4 1/2 months and learn to get his toys - or roll to get them/

Ds2 - didn't mind being on his tummy, did the pushing head/chest up first, then developed the "knees under bum" and then crawled (at 7 months) - infact his "development was pretty "to the book".

So - what about DS3's - his head control when you hold him in an uprigth position is really good, but he really doesn't show any attempt at pushing his head up.....has anhone elses baby done the "knees up" (mother brown ) thing before pushing up with the arms????

YEp ds did, DD hated tummy time and she also never really had loads of it until she could at least get herself out of it DS never bothered how he was lying as long as he was lying lol. At about 10-12 weeks he had fantastic head control when held upright in fact probably from before that but never pushed himsel up until he was much older and actually tried crawling but he could and would tuck his knees up under him.

DS3 doesn't really like it - he prefers to be on his back or being held upright.

I just found it odd that he was doing the knees up thing when his head is still firmly flat against the floor.

In fact when I think about he did actually get about like this a bit at firts used to look painful he would kind of drag his head around in a big circle to get what he wanted, he did lift up eventually and doen't seem any the worse for it.
