Keep walking into living room and see dd (age 9) pull her skirt down quickly... clearly she's discovering something that feels nice etc...

... but i don't know whether to tell her to do it in private, or to ignore it all....gaaaahhh.... actually i think i must be a total prude as i find it really embarrassing.

any ideas

tell her it's normal but best done in private. I would think a girl who has discovered diy and is happy and confident is less likely to put up with being fumbled about with as a teen.

Not naive, but you are thinking of it as a sexual thing, which she almost certainly is not - it's just something that feels nice

If it keeps happening I would tell her to do it in private.

I don't think your a prude, my dd is 5 and has already discovered the feeling the shower can give her it embarrassed me!

I used to climb up the swing frame when I was about 7, and it was truly just because it felt really nice. I had absolutely no inkling what I was doing I agree, if she keeps doing it, just gently tell her it's best kept for private.
