My 23 mo DS is going through the "again again" phase. everything is again. Me or his dad or his gran making him laugh, something on tv. And we are fine with this, obviously, that's normal. we will do amusing thing until he is unamused by it anymore, or rewind certain part of tv (Thank goodness for sky+) until he or we are becoming irritated by it. and this is usually sufficiant. we are quite a good 'distraction' family. and he is onto the next thing.

However, tonight, we rewound the blue cow portion of story makers 4 or 5 times (which is a normal amount) then i went onto something else, He only watches about an hour of tv in the morn and an hour at night and i don't want him watching the same portion of tv for ages, thus i tried to move onto something else. but he went on and on about this particular part of the programme for 10 minutes, was distracted by charlie and lola for 5 minutes, then started going on about it again. then he went up to bed fine, but as he was getting into his pyjamas he mentioned it again, this was an hour later.

Is it normal for him to remember something for that long, and go on and on about it ?

I'm probably overreacting but he was saying most of it to his gran so i was looking on instead of being part of it and it seemed odd that he was so incessant.

If he's watching an entire story again then I wouldn't worry at all. I would only be concerned if he was rewinding a veyr small amount (or only watching it rewinding or fastforwarding- ds1 does this, drives the other 2 mad). Really I would only be concerned if he went ballistic when you tried to get him away (ds1 plus rewinding = frenzy if someone stops it).

Completely normal I would say. DS - same age - still witters on about the man up a ladder pruning next door's tree. This thrilling event occurred 2 months ago. "Man Ladder Rrrrrrrr Tree" Repeat ad infinitum. I half-expect him to mention it in his wedding speech.
