My 15 mth DD has started waking at 5 am every morning for the past two weeks and we don't know why. She has never been a brilliant sleeper and didn't sleep through until she started walking at 11 mths but then went through from 7 to 6.15 without any problems. She has blackout blinds and balckout curtain linings in her bedroom and has always been used to us making noise in the house. She somtimes moans in the night but then goes back to sleep. We have a bedtime routine and after her bottle at nihgt she asks to go into her cot and we stroke her back until the moans get so quiet she's nearly asleep. Howver in the norning it's different story, she is standing up and crying/screaming until we come and get her. I don't think she is really that bothered about her milk as when we go she'll lie back down and cry but as soon as we make a move to go out the door again she screams. I've tried putting toys in her bed to play with when she wakes, I've tried waking her half hour before she normally wakes and then resettling her to try and break her sleep cycle but nothing seems to work. The problem maybe that she doen't sleep enough during the day but yesterday was a typical day at the childminders with ample opportunity to dose off in the pushchair/car (she won't go down in the cot there) and she only slept for 40 mins all day! HELP. I had a look at the Millpond sleep clinic book but the early riser solution is for 3-6 yr olds but then went on Amazon and found the No cry sleep book for toodlers, it had five star reviews but I wondered if any of you have any experienc of using for a similar problem or could offer any other advice?
many thanks.
