Tomboy or typical??

My DD is 3.5. She plays equally well with trains as she does with her dress up dress's.

She's sporty and active, but prefers dress's over trousers. She's not a willowy child, but has a good solid frame, she takes knocks and scrapes well and always up fo the next challange.

If we go to the park she will copy other children in terms of what they are playing on etc, but will always try to initiate play with boys over girls.

When at pre-school she seems to be inclined to spend more time with the boys than girls too. She knows the names of all the boys at her pre-school, but only knows the girls who's mum's I talk too.

Her keyworker is the only man at pre-school and she loves being in his group. And I know from the supervisor that all the boys want to be in his group and spend time playing with him - so I dont know if this has influenced that.

In her activity reports her keyworker says she is very attentive and loves playing in home corner. And she has a little brother who she idolises and will do anything for him.

She is not phased by boys at all, and has stood her ground at a park when older boys were IMO quite initmidating towards her.

Recently in the Disney Store we lost her for a few minutes before being told by an elderly couple that she was hiding in a playtent with thier 3 grandsons (all at least 2 years or more older than her)

Is this typical of a girl of her age? Or do we have a mini tomboy?

DS1's best friend is a lovely little girl who sounds like this! I was a bit like that too when I was younger, always found boys easier to be with and less gossipy/bitchy as I got older.

(I turned out alright or so DH says... )

sound great!

but so what anyway? don't we want to raise our daughters to stand up to boys and play with them as equals?

Sounds like my daughter 9, loves pretty dresses , although happily wears trousers. Has just become the first and only girl in the cubs pack, but still happy to be girly in Brownies as well.
