Hi my child is preschool age and a compulsive eater and putting in a deal of weight. its a daily battle and onslaught to ensure he isnt eating every second of the day and that theres enough left for us, i couldnt even describe it as boredom eating ...he doesnt allow himself to to get bored. I have an elder son who is ASD and havent had this issue. We had a scarf on the fridge for years but became able to remove /open it and became redundant. We now have a lock on the kitchen door which is helpful however being in and out with laundry etc is a hinderance ... and he gets straight in hes incredibly strong for his age and the tantrums that ensue are taking its toll aswell everything feels so hopeless. Me and DH are aware pro hell is needed now , we are out of our depth. Could drs help in this situation? I cant imagine what theyd say or be able to do. Sorry if garbled, any advice appreciated however please bare in mind its a delicate situation with a young child involved, hold the vitriol!

Have you heard of Prader Willi syndrome? I don't know much about it but compulsive eating is a symptom.

I would definitely seek help.

Good luck, it sounds very difficult.

Prader Willi sprung to mind for me too. It sounds really hard OP and you don't deserve any flaming. You haven't done this. Have you spoken to your GP? If you do, tell them about PW and ask them to refer you.

Thanks for replies , im approaching that point now as i though he'll drop it when he gets to nursery etc....but hasn't, im frightened of a judgemental reaction tbh then get no help and regret ever going.

Prader Willi has a ton of other stuff associated with it, doesn't it? It seems to be one of those conditions that gets wildly overdiagnosed online.
