Do older children get "teething"problems too?

DD1 has lost her some of her baby teeth. The middle two lower fell out some time ago, and one adult tooth has come through. It's huge- there is physically no room for the other one. At her last check up, the dentist said she will almost certainly have to have orthodontic work when she is older. She's seven now. A week or so ago, the middle top two fell out. There is no sign of any adult teeth to replace them, but again, the gap is quite small- about 1cm across.

For some time now, she has been getting extremely pink cheecks, just like when she was teething as a baby. She also wants to chew and gnaw at things- any things. Recent victims have been the remote controls, fingers (so hard she bled), chairs, even the steel post on her bed frame! She's never done this before, and seems shocked and upset when she sees what a mess she's made, but just can't seem to stop herself. In desparation tonight, I gave her a wooden spoon. The handle is about 2cm shorter! Thanfully, she very tidily spits out the detritus into a hanky!

I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this sort of thing with their DC's- my RL friends are taking this as confirmation of our (and her), erm, differentness.
The main problem seems to be her behaviour

My daughter who is nearly 6 has had awful problems with her teeth.

Shes had some of the big back teeth come through and while they were coming through she was on calpol every day!!

We couldn't work out why she had so much pain and my dentist said that all kids are different, some suffer and some don't!!

Also both her new teeth have come through with tiny cavities so she has to have them both filled!!!
