Baby Boys Penis

Bit of a touchy subject but was hoping someone else has noticed this. My little boy is 2 next week, he had his nappy off today and was playing with his bits and pieces. I have never stopped him before as I feel like they need to know their body. However, when I checked on him, his penis looks like it had been circumsised and the end was very purple. I will be visiting the health visitor tomorrow but was hoping to find out if it was normal or not tonight so I could sleep well... TIA x

Had he pushed his foreskin back when fiddling with it? Purple is normal (in my experience of little boys fiddling in the bath), but unless circumcised you wouldn't normally see it unless pushed back - I've no idea what a circumcised toddler penis would look like.

Ds2 is 2 and his retracts now, not all do at this age but either way is normal.

It sounds like he's pulled it back himself while fiddling, as long as it pulls back forward okay, I wouldn't worry.

However, if there's any swelling or redness then have your GP check it isn't balanitis, which can be quite sore. Easily fixed with antibiotics though.

He must have just pushed it back and it looks completely normal again now. I got a bit of a shock as I have an older boy, age 7 & haven't seen this before. I didn't know if he had hurt the end with it being purple. Thank you all for your help x

I have two boys age 4 and 2 who think it's HILARIOUS to play with their bits - oldest one will squash it and say "look, it's a hammerhead shark!"

As other have said, it's just them pulling their foreskin back. Such a huge surprise when they first do it but I just try and ignore them now. Monkeys!
