7 month old - toy ideas?

My little one has outgrown his toys now and isn't interested in crunchy books and things any more. Can anyone recommend some favourite toys for this age? He has a jumperoo and ball pit etc but trying to find some that are a bit more portable for when you go out.

Hide and squeak eggs were a massive hit from 6 months, although I wouldn't take them out cos they roll all over the floor. Galt toys have a thing with 4 little wobbly stick people in a box that's also v good (think it says 12 months + but the pieces are quite big).

Favourite though was a load of assorted household tat in a box, to take out and put back in again - washing up sponge, pastry brush, coaster, measuring spoons.

Yes , I concur on the 'household treasure' items, but just make sure they are 100% safe - sponges could be chewed, for instance, and pieces bitten off.

Duplo toys and bricks, in their various modern guises, are always safe, can be 'educational' and can progress into Lego as a child matures. Duplo vehicles, animals and trains can last for many years.

Pull-along toys on wheels can be good, and thirty years ago our DS had a thing called a 'Clatterpillar' - Oh gosh! I see they are on 'ebay' in the Fisher Price 'Vintage' area! But to extend the fun of the toy, I attached a much longer string to it, and passed it around a secure chair leg. So as a child pulls on the string, the toy goes AWAY from him; of course, also arrange it sometimes so it does come towards him.
