Ok so I do know this is "normal" behaviour and this is just them exerting their independence etc etc.
What I am finding hard to deal with is when DD (22 months) says one thing and means another (or she simply doesn't understand what I'm asking/saying in the first place).
And this happens LOADS throughout the day!
So as example I'll ask her "do you want cereal or banana porridge". She will answer with whichever one she wants and then when I give it to her she refuses to eat.
This is happening lots at meal times particularly. And I generally don't give her a choice of what she's having (unless it's cereal) but even at other meal times she says she's hungry but as soon as she gets in her chair she'll refuse it. She'll make a big fuss about not wanting it but then - sometimes - she'll then just eat it.
I am patient with her and do realise she is just learning new words, how to use them etc but it's sooooo confusing me.
How do I best manage this?
