ds (3) bitten badly on head and neck at shopping centre creche - what's appropriate action to expect??

Of course I'm upset at the bites, on top of his neck ffs, drawn blood, nasty scratches on neck. I understand small kids can do this sort of thing but it sounds like it was an unprovoked and vicious attack.

This was a creche you pay for at a shopping centre. We've been loads of times before with no problem.

I'm not happy that I was not called when the incident occured, but merely told when I went to collect my dss.

I'm also not happy that nothing seems to have been done, other than the boys mum was called and she had to collect him early, bet she didn't even have to pay!

But what could or should be done in these circumstances, it's not a regular play group or nursery. But this boy could in theory go back and bitte someone else. I want to phone up tomorrow to express my disappointment and concerns but don't know what realistically to expect? His head is quite swollen and he has bloody teeth marks on it. I feel very upset about it. Obviously won't be going back in a hurry. He's due to start at a playgroup next week and I now feel really anxious about it. He's so small for his age.

I would take pictures and lodge a complaint

They should have stopped the biter before he had a chance to tuck in

You should also have seen an accident form/book

agree you should have seen and signed an accident book

How awful for you. I would ring tomorrow and speak to the Boss

Children are going to get hurt by other children when all in a room playing but this sounds very extreme

Yes bites are common place, but that sounds like an excessively violent 'attack'.

I would submit a written complaint and request a written reply regarding what action they took on the day in question, and what steps they will take should a similar situation arise in future...

I've never had the confidence to leave my child in a shopping centre creche, although happy to leave him in the creche at my gym.....I sort of know what kind of families attend the gym and lets say they are from less ...ermmm...eclectic backgrounds than the myriad people to be found at the shopping centre

Also, you should take him to be checked out - human bites are very dirty and he should be seen by a doctor.
