Advice please - constantly hungry at 7 weeks

Hoping for some advice as had no luck asking the HV

My DS is 7 weeks and over the 99th percentile since birth. We bottle feed due to my medical needs.

At the minute he can polish off 7oz of formula every two hours, stretching to four hours overnight. Should I be trying to extend the periods between bottles? Obviously don't want to over feed but he is constantly hungry!

He is also straining to poo for hours, without much luck. Not sure if the two are related?

Any ideas?

Dont know about ff im sorry, I realise it's your main concern, but for the straining to poo have you tried baby massage? We did some classes and it can really help with things like that. Hope you get your answers, afaik ff have same growth spurts as bf and I remember feeding a lot most of the time and CONSTANTLY around the expected spurts

Not sure what to say about the constant being hungry as both my kids wanted to eat every 2-3 hours and every 1-2 hours when they went through growth spurt.
But for the pooing we noticed a huge difference with my son when we switched to lower iron formula. He could better poo after that. Then I got a sample can of regular formula and he got constipated again. Before we even switches to lower Iron with him one time he was so badly constipated that we had to help him (by helping to push his legs up and down) and he started to bleed. He was not even 4 month old. I still see his hurtful face till this day and he will turn 2 in September..

Good luck

We had a similar problem with our son. He was in the 90 something percentile but had to be bottle fed due. He used to be hungry every couple of hours no matter how much milk he had. We used the pre made milk formula Aptamil and he suffered with constipation.

The doctor told us it was very common with bottle fed babies to be constipated and prescribed Molvicol (a powder that had to be mixed with water) which he didn't like so we added a tiny bit of fruit juice to the water and then he drank it no problem. He used to have one sachet a day and normal bowel movements resumed.
