Hi any advice?? DS it a happy little boy and plays really well on his own, but at the moment he sees me he starts crying until i pick him up. If his dad is holding him and DS sees me again he cries until he can come to me. However if i am not in the room and no where t be seen or heard he is quite happy and contented??

Any ideas, im desperate!!!!

We're having this at the moment. Flattering, but exhausting. I got a Boots parenting mag through the other day which said to be sympathetic to them and to let them be comforted by the person they want. I normally find after a few minutes of cuddling, he is okay to go to the other person, be put down or whatever.

Apparently, whilst the books say that classically separation anxiety doesn't kick in til 10 mths, actually anytime after 6/7 is common - dd is 8 mnths and getting into it too - although not as much as yours - sounds tough. Sadly think its just a stage...no great solns, other than pratical ones - eg can you get him to play somewhere where you can see him, but he can't easily see you (iykwim) so you can get on with stuff? On the good side, you're obviously a very loveable mum

I know like all the other things he will grow out of it, its just so tyring and demanding. Yes its flattering but its a joke when you have to run past him to go upstairs so he doenst see me, i was even crawling round behind the sofa earlier so i could get to another room without being spotted!!!!
