Thank you have now posted it on SN children, he sees a speech therapist every 6-8 months and developemental paediatrician every 6 months

A speech therapist every six to eight months is nowhere near often enough. Our son has a speech delay of 12 months at 3.5 and we paid for a private SALT (£50 per hour session) to see him every fortnight to begin with but we son dropped back to once every three to four weeks. After just 8 months, we reduced that to every 6-8 weeks. However, I was doing three twenty minute sessions of speech homework a week (as directed by his SALT) in between sessions so it really is labour intensive.

Good luck with this. Has the paediatrician indicated whether the global delay will be permanent or can be overcome in time?

I have some experience with this so please feel free to PM me if you would rather respond more privately.

My son also had a severe speech disorder and I agree that seeing a speech therapist that often is not going to help him nearly enough. We also ended up going private and my son had weekly 45 minute sessions with the private SALT alongside fairly spaced out 5 week blocks of NHS therapy and almost daily sessions with myself following the advice givenby the therapist.
I'm not sure about the rest as speech disorder was DS only issue but I hope you are able to get some answers when you see the paediatrician. Good luck.
