Sitting up unsupported

What age did your little ones sit up unsupported? DS is 7 and a half months and still can't sit up by himself, he's also only now starting to roll over to his belly but will only stay there for a few seconds and goes straight back on to his back. I know they all develop differently but would like to know a rough age, all my friends babies are sitting and crawling and I feel like somehow it's my fault that he's not doing it yet and that I should be doing something to help?

My little one was still a bit wobbly at 8 months but had perfected it by 9 months so I would say your son is fine!

That was to do with sitting! He could roll at your son's age but was about 8 months before he did it with ease (and I then had to follow him round the room wishing he would just stay still!!)

Friend's boy wasn't sitting at 8 months. By 10 months he was sitting, crawling, walking and jumping!

Mine sat days before she became 10 months. Every baby develops differently

Dd1 sat up the day before she turned 6 months. She was a text book baby as far as milestones went. Once she could sit, she rarely fell back.

Dd2 didn't sit up at 10 months. However she was crawling by 6 months, so if you tried to sit her up, she just flung herself on her tummy and crawled away. She confused the HV by walking at 8 months, but not being able to sit up for more than a couple of minutes at 11months. HV couldn't decide whether to refer her or not. Grin She didn't!

Ds sat up at about 7.5 months. He could wobble in a sitting position for a short time from about 7 months, but once he'd started doing that he got his balance fairly quickly.

DD1 is the least physical/sporty one.

Ds1 - sat up at 9 months, crawling at 10 months, walking 5 weeks later.
Ds2 - sat up at 5 months, crawling at 8 months, didn't walk until 15 months!
Ds3 - can't remember, total blur. Grin

Basically - just because he is not sitting yet doesn't mean he will be late crawling or walking or whatever, not that it really matters anyway but you know what I mean!

Dd1 had a harness on her legs until 4 months so couldn't do tummy time or anything but was still able to sit up on her own at 4 and a half months. She didn't crawl till 11 months and didn't walk till 16 months.

Ds1 is 8 months and still isn't able to sit with out falling after a couple of seconds. He has only rolled a couple of times.

My ds didn't really sit by himself until well after he had crawled and he also never rolled cept by accident. I thought he was behind but he ended up walkin at 14 months and he's 4 years now and ther is no difference between any of them
