Can anyone tell me the "sign" for milk please?

Hi

I am signed up to go to Baby sign classes but they don't start until mid November and I'm keen to start DD with signing for milk. Can anyone describe to me how to do it please?

The British one mimics the milking of a cow so I used the American one with ds which is starting with an open hand and closing it in and out (as if you were squeezing a tennis ball). This can be done when feeding which is an obvious advantage when trying to get a lo to make the link!

wellll.... even tho my first (whos the only one we could be bothered to do the signing with) was bf for the first 8 months, the sign we used was kind of a thumbs up held up and tilted towards the mouth (like a bottle)

its not actually the sign, but that doesnt really matter.

and youre supposed to clearly say the same words over and over in conjunction with the sign, so they make the association. which you prob know...

i do a thumbs up with my hand and then open my fingers out and close them back in again, like squeezing a stress ball

I do the squeezing thing too (it's my interrprutation of the baby signing version)

In thew post below mine, the one handed sign is ASL (American), the two handed sign is BSL (British).

I am a CSW for Deaf students and am fleunt in BSL therefore I was keen tot each my children BSL.

Milk is very important for babies therefore in my opion the sign should be eay for them to use. The Anerican sign (squeeze right hand) is easier so I went with that.

DS/DD picked this sign up in no time at all. Tneir routine was that they would have a bath then get out and have their milk. The minute we told them to get out the bath they would be squeezing their hand like mad asking for their milk.
