Ssri's during pregnancy- autism?

Hi all, I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant and have been on citalopram since before I fell pregnant. I've stupidly just googled possible problems for the baby and some sites say it could cause autism. Has anyone heard of this? And has anyone found this to be true? Thanks xxxx

these rumours have come from one very tiny study of only 300 children. This is not reliable for a number of reasons....I'm not a mathematician so can't talk about those reasons clearly but I do know that no scientific "result" is reliable when there were as few as 300 case studies.

Untreated depression in pregnancy carries real risks and therefore you did no wrong in taking your medicine as prescribed. Flowers

Thank you. Sometimes I feel so guilty for taking the meds and potentially causing damage, but it's what I've been told to do so hopefully all will be fine. xx

If you google 'possible causes of autism' there would be 1000's of results. There are so many badly done scientific studies out there (I'm a scientist) that everyone would be too scared to do anything during pregnancy, or anything in life for that matter. Try not to worry xx Thanks
