Car seat escapee - anyone help!!!!!!

20 month old toddler just doesn't want to sit in his car seat. Major (major!)tantrum to get him in and then once in and I've set off he releases buckle and takes off straps, I'm having to stop up to three times on way home from school run to strap him back in with commotion from him each time.
Have tried distracting him with toys, songs etc while putting him in - doesn't work. Also friend suggested tying scarf around buckle but not keen to do this as know importance of being able to release a child quickly from their seat if ever involved in accident, god forbid.

What seat do you have?

Brevi one, model called grand prix or similar I think

get a snugsit. very quick to release by an adult

but it sounds like he needs a buckle cover as well.
