Not co-operating at school at all

My eldest will be 5 at Xmas and started at reception full time 4 weeks ago and for 2 weeks before that she was doing mornings only.

When she's doing something she wants to do she is delightful, very popular with everyone and charming and sweet and all that jazz.

However, when she is being asked to do something she doesn't want to do, she digs those heels in and won't co-operate at all.

This has meant that she has pulled the hair of of special needs 1-2-1 teacher, yesterday she pulled the hair, a lot, of her physiotherapist, she throws things, pushes, shouts. Anything to try and make sure everyone knows she does not want to do X and is not happy at being asked to.

The teacher gets there in the end but it's really upsetting for everyone and just such a shame to be acting in this way and being so definant and trying to excert her will over the teacher, only to eventually give in after 40 minutes or so

I thought I might try a reward chart. Not sure if she'll get it at first and may require a lot of reiterration and patience.

Just feel quite about it all really.

This is a very common problem, but very upsetting for you. You are not alone - take a look at the thread 'Help i don't know what to do with 4 yo DS ...........'

Don't forget to copy your thread on to hers so that SHE knows she's not alone!
