My 23mth ds is waking up about 530 in the mornings. It doesnt seem to make any difference what time he goes to bed. Ww moved him into a bed 3 mths ago cos he climbed out the cot. When he was in a cot he would have around 11.5 hrs sleep at night + up to 3 hrs in the day. Now hes getting around 10 hrs at night + 1 hr in the day, which I dont think is enough. When he wakes early we've tried consistently putting him back to bed but it just makes him really angry & he jumps straight back up again. If we leave him we have 1.5 hrs of shouting & crying & then we have to get up anyway ! Please give me some advice as its a horrible start to the day !

Both my sons were the same, always up at 5- 5.30am no matter what. We used to bring them in our bed where occassionally they would doze. Other than that we just used to go to bed earlly ourselves and then take it in turns to get up with them. Now they are 3 and 6 and will sleep until 7 - 7.30am which feels like a luxury. At least you will never be late for anything ! Sorry but there is not much you can do if they are awake thy're awake some children just don't need as much sleep as others.

What cracked it down for us was to put a mat in his bedroom and stay with him from he woke up at 5.00 until gettingup time at about 6.30~7.00am.
The mat allowed one of us to at least get some rest and ds learnt to go go back to sleep.
Afer about 2 weeks, he stopped waking up in the morning all together.
Now I have to sy that ds was about 16 months old so stillin his cot.Not sure how it would work for you.

Also, I do think that some children are earlier risers or don't need a lot of sleep but if he has started to get up early when he was sleeping longer before it is probably more due to moving from cot to bed.
