My 11 week old makes no attempt to lift head on tummy she just lays there and sucks her fist. Nothing interests her I've tried mirrors, toys, music, ipad, getting down with her singing, rolled up towel, laying her on legs oracross lap, fitness ball and nothing just fist sucking and screaming the house down or falling to sleep. Apparently she should be holding her head and starting to do push ups now but that's a joke I'm sure. I know some held their heads at a few days old lol! But Just wondered if any others are similar to my lo. X

My baby hates tummy time on her mat but will lift her head if I lay her on my chest have you tried that?

Both of mine hated tummy time so didn't really get any Yet they both crawled at 6 months, so didn't seem to hold them back :)

I agree try her on your chest. It might be more that she doesn't like it in the floor. Also have you taken her swimming? I think swishing them around on their fronts is interesting for them, the water is supportive and encourages some different movements and positions.

My first one hated tummy time too. I would try putting her on your chest too. I can assure you that my now seven year old is running, jumping and generally non stop! My second one developed at slightly different rate (was premature) and loved tummy time. I haven't noticed a big difference between the two in terms of development.

Another variation is if you sit on the floor with your legs in a triangle (knees bent, pointing up at ceiling) and put her on your thighs, that way she's on her tummy but can see around her.

DD hated tummy time, she'd just lie there face down - I felt bad I didn't keep trying to out her on her tummy. When she learned to roll over she did her own tummy time and learned to crawl pretty soon after, must have been at 5/6 months. I honestly wouldn't worry about it - it certainly made no difference to DD's development.

If she hates it, why impose it on her? None of mine have ever had tummy time and they all had perfectly normal/advanced physical development.
