bereavement books for kids

my lovely sister in law's mum is very ill and I am wanting to think about a book that may help My nephew and niece get through the inevitable..

any good ideas?

How old are they? There's a picture book, called Badger's Parting Gifts by Susan Varley which is meant to be quite good.

I remember a thread somewhere about this - it may not have been Mumsnet. I did a Google search and came up with a website dealing with bereavement and children which had a list.

Busy tidying up (in thoery!) so can't look now. Something like bereavement children books was probably the search I did. There were 5 books or so that were appropriate.

we have the Mog book, which Judith Kerr wrote to tackle the issue of death, it's very sweet especially if they know Mog already

I'd heartily recommend it, Judith Kerr's getting on a bit herself & talked about it a lot on the radio when it was published.
