Should I give 11 month old milk at night?

Hi,

My 11 month old has gone 2 nights without having a 2/3am bottle and has been waking up after 6.30. I have been giving him his bottle when he wakes up, in the lounge room, not in his room.

If he does wake up in the night now should I give him a bottle to get him back to sleep or stop giving him night feeds from now on, now that I know he can go through the night?

Babies' needs change, they have growth spurts and sometimes they are more hungry than others.

I fed mine in the night at that age - if they settled quickly then what's the harm? They needed it and don't anymore (4&2 years old).

I fed mine at that age too, in the room they slept in. Went straight back to sleep.

I feed my 8 month DS in the night if he wakes (after several months of sleeping through when he was smaller)- cue much tutting and head shaking from health visitors. It's not every night and when I do he glugs a full feed down so I just assume he needs it.

My 23mo are still dreamfed during the night and are tandem fed at 3am. It's totally okay at 11 months to be fed at night :)

On the flip side, the vast majority of studies say an 11mo doesn't need milk at night and should be perfectly capable of taking necessary calories in The day for growth spurts etc.

If you're happy giving it then great, but if not, your ds might surprise you and be quite happy without it v quickly. You could gradually water down the milk or reduce amount if you wanted to wean off it.
