Hi folks,
My 7 year old ds has never been properly dry at night (despite various attempts) so now we lift him, he pees and is then dry for the rest of the night. He is quite a deep sleeper and alarms and shouting do not wake him.
He has recently started wetting during the day. He will be playing in the house with his friends when I notice a wet patch and call him up to get changes. He then gets angry at me because he misses playing with the friends. Some times in the evening before bath his pants are wet.
I don't know which way to come down on this frankly. He has been largely dry during the day since he was 2 and a half, but now he claims he never feels the urge to go, so can't judge. But it can't be that extreme or he would of wet himself for the past 5 years. Part of me thinks he is mch more interested in play so holds it in until he overflows.
We have a gp appointment next week to discuss the hed wetting and I will mention the day time stuff.
Any ideas? I am at the end of my tether. So much washing! And I don't want him to be mocked.

I have had a very similar problem with my almost 7yr old DD this summer. We patch on her leggings but not a full wet herself. She is also not dry at night due to being a deep sleeper. We can get to 5 nights sometimes but no further.

I took her to GP and as we had private health insurance we saw a paediatrician and she had xrays/ultrasounds. It turns out even though she would do a poo every other day there is a lot of poo lying in her large intestine and also a ball of poo at the end. This ball of poo he suspects, depending on how she moves, is squeezing her bladder and causing her to involuntarily leak if her bladder is fairly full. She has been put on movicol for 6 months to try and clear out all the poo. So it may be that there is an underlying medical issue.

DD would often hold as long as possible and she doesn't have a strong full bladder sensation.

I handled it by being calm but saying it stopped or we went to the GP. It didn't so we did.
