"between 2 and 4 months your baby will rover back to front" - really that early?

This is what it says in the MN development thingy e/mail that I got today. I am really surprised, dd1 rolled over first at five months and dd2 at four months, both of them started with front to back, do the majority of babies really roll over back to front that early?

my dd1 practically never rolled over. dss were later - 6 months? dd2 rolled at about 2.5 months and I was astonished.
think all these dates are a bit hopeless - its a bit like walking where any time from 8 months to 20 is normal as far as I can make out but the common statement is that they walk at around a year.

Both of my DC rolled from front to back first and definately didn't do it as early as 2 months!

Ds rolled back to front at 18 weeks but dd didn't roll until after she could crawl, so about 8 months. She also went back to front even though she was a tummy sleeper.

Is the back to front rolling because they spend so much time on their backs these days or because it's easier? Just curious .

Dd was 8 weeks when she first rolled over from her back to her front, and 11 weeks when she started rolling over and over. It was a nuisance really because she could cover huge distances in the blink of an eye just by rolling.

These milestone things can be misleading, one size doesn't fit all, they're all different.

ds rolled back to front a couple of times between 2 months and 3 months old but didn't do it again until he was over 4 months old. Then he spent ages getting upset as he couldn't do front to back so got stuck. He was over 5 months old before he was rolling properly.

I do find these sort of questions hard as ds seems to do all these things on a really long timescale. He took his first unaided steps at 12 months old but didn't walk again until he was 16 months old when he started doing it again and didn't stop this time

DS has been able to roll front to back since about 8 weeks, but is still not going back to front although he is sitting up. He is 5 months

ds2 is 6 months and he is an early mover, has been rolling since8 weeks on all fours since 4 months and started to crawl at 5.5 month and christ he can move. in amongst all this he did realise he could sit up better dig out all the safety gear!

DD (6 months) has rolled from back to front once (about 2 months ago) and no sign of any interest in repeating the trick. No chance of back to front yet. ds was exactly the same - couldn't see any point in rolling ... but then he didn't crawl until well over a year ... much more interested in learnign to talk and telling US what to do...

My DS3 started standing up at 71/2 months . Is this normal?? He is now nearly 9 months and starting to walk round the sofa.

DS rolled over back to front at about 4.5 months.

DD has finally rolled over in the last week (she'll be 1 on Wednesday).

God no. dd1 didn't roll over until she was over 1 year, dd2 at about 6/7 months, and ds at about 7/8 months iirc.

(and I can't remember which way they rolled either!!)

I remember being completely freaked out by this with ds1 as he didn't really roll until about 7 months, although he had been sitting since about 4 1/2 months. 3 children later and I've concluded my babies just don't "do" rolling until later on, but since they won't be expected to do a GCSE in rolling and they're all bright and healthy I've stopped worrying

ds1 could do it from birth, the dts at about that age, and dd never rolled over really, just wanted to be sat up then cruise. THey are all different.

I don't ever remember seeing DD roll over TBH. She must have been able to around this time as she did so in her sleep.

DS 2 first rolled over at 9 weeks, but it was a one off. He started rolling regulary at about 14 weeks, and now cant keep him off his tummy.

dd just did it at 14 months ! I think the 'back to bed' (instead of sleep on front) means most babies will roll over later as well.

None of mine ever did when they were small babies!

My DS1 rolled over from belly to back at 18 weeks and back to belly not long after, whereas my DD2 rolled over belly to back at 10 weeks and has just started rolling back to belly and she is 19 weeks.

my ds didn't roll until he was 7 months old, then within the space of 2 months he was crawling, pulling himself up, cruising, then walking! DD started rolling at 12 weeks.

They are all different

apart from ds1 all of mine have been late rollers!dd2 is now nearly 10 months.she started rolling from front-back at 8 months then 2 weeks later figured how to get back to her back.she is only just trying to push up on her knees and has only learnt to sit up properly in the last week.she would rather sit and talk-she said 'cat' at 8 months and now says about 5 words clearly.dd1 was the same.babies just do first what they consider the most important thing to them
