Chesty 5 week old....

My ds who is 5 weeks, seems to never have had a clear chest since birth, sometimes like when winding him you can feel his chest wheezing, and at night when he is asleep you can hear him wheezing slightly.

At first i thought it would just be fluid from the birth (had a CS) but surely that still can't be it? I have a nephew who has terrible asthma so i am feeling paranoid now

I will mention it to HV when she comes on Tuesday, but just wanted to ask everyone on here.

TIA

Is he breathing normally? Does he cough a lot, or have any other symptoms? If you are concerned, a doctor can listen to his chest and identify problems very quickly. In my experience, babies are so tiny, it's very easy to feel and hear every vibration that is happening in their chests, which doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem.

Hi Pucca, I had a cs and ds was chesty for about 8 weeks. As soon as he was upright it would go away and it never progressed to a cough.

No he doesn't cough at all actually, he does breathe normally it was just this chestiness that was bothering me, no other symptoms.

Guess i just a little paranoid as i know how terrible it is/was for my nephew.

Thank for the replies
