Help!! Head banging 2 yr old out of control

Please can anyone help or advise me about head banging in 2 year olds?

My son does it 20 times a day whenever he doesn't get his own way or is jealous of his little sister who is 8 months old.

I have read and tried everything and spoken to professionals but only get patronised by health workers and told to nurture him more and praise him more which is very unhelpful as I am SO SO careful to praise him for everything good he ever does and a give him so much love and try to share my attention equally between my babies and I give him jobs to do to involve him in the baby and we do activities and I feed good food and get him out and about and he is generally a happy healthy fun and loving boy.... But recently he has banged his head so hard he had carpet burns and bruises on his head!

When he does it I try to ignore the behaviour and carry on what I'm doing but of course I have to put my hand under his head so he can't bang the floor and hurt himself but I don't always get there quick enough and of course I just want it to stop. I try to distract him but it can take a long time and often it happens 20 times a day. It brings me to tears I'm so upset for him and feel totally helpless and emotionally I'm a wreck as so scared he is going to do it.

Has anyone else come across this and found professionals unhelpful and made you feel worse? What do I do?

Any advice is gratefully accepted

Thank you xxxxx

bumping for you...

HV generally really pee me off Grin
hoping it's just a phase for you as he's adjusting to his sister; my dc used to rock on the sofa while watching tv, thank god they grew out of that Hmm visitors used to be a bit puzzled, but they'd get upset if I tried to stop them...

the motto of my post is 'kids are weird' Grin
hope someone can help you better than I soon Thanks
