I just wanted to know when to start as I think at 6 month is to late.

Three signs baby is ready...

Can sit in a highchair without flopping.
Tongue thrust reflex gone.
Can put things in his mouth.

My baby is five and a bit months and checks two of those boxes - once he gets the third we will start.

My other DC were 25w (26w after due date) and 26w (also 26w after due date). This baby will be the same, I expect.

Why do you think it's too late? My children are great eaters - everyone comments on the range of foods they eat.

Tried DD at six months but she just wasn't interested in food until nearly a year, although would eat bits from 9 months. Based on the signs she was ready around 25 weeks.

my mother started weaning at 4 months for all her 6 kids and now all doing great but my HV told me to wait till my DD turns 6 months and this is making me confused a bet.

The "around six months" advice is based on years of research and medical science.

Tbh weaning is a massive faff compared with just milk, so there's no benefit to starting sooner! Grin

Research in this area has moved on since your mother was weaning babies. There's more risk of allergies the earlier you wean www.nhs.uk/Conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/Pages/solid-foods-weaning.aspx

dd was 16 weeks - 10 years ago (the guidance changed to 6 months that year - 2003)

ds was 23 weeks - 7 years ago

It was less of a faff with ds as milk feeding is so much easier. There is no benefit to starting at 4 months.

DD (now 5) was 16 weeks due to reflux (on hv's advice).
DS (now 3) was 18 weeks because he was a greedy monkey and showing all three of the signs listed by PP. He was more in a BLW style because he was more than happy to shove food in his mouth. He seemed to almost bypass the puree stage altogether.

Both are now great eaters, no developmental issues, weight problems or food phobias from starting early. Its not for everyone, and doing it before 6 months will get you cat-bum faces, but it worked for us. Be guided by your baby.

We stuck.to the guidelines of 6mo because I'm anal Grin , have zero experience around babies and at 6 months still didn't trust my instincts in such things.
DS bit straight into my banana Grin we couldn't be arsed with pureeing stuff, and it looks like crap anyway, so finger food was the way to go for us.

'Food before one is just for fun' and all that, so you don't need to be in any great rush to fill them up, milk is sufficient.

Think it was about 20 weeks with both DC (10 and 8).

Guidelines change according to whatever research suggests is best. Another example is sleeping, when I was a baby my mum put me to sleep on my tummy. These days advice is that babies are safest sleeping on their back.
