Baby itching in evening

Does anyone have any advice for us, our DD is 14 weeks tomorrow and has always been a fidgety sleeper, when she stirs she rubs her face, but recently just this week her face and scalp have been really red and bumpy, and almost looks burnt. Went to pharmacy and they gave us Aveeno for the bath and to rinse her hair with as there is a lot in the sides of face/ in scalp and the cream. Started using in bath yesterday and then applied cream after bath and then again after her dream feed. But she is stirring literally avert 10-15 minutes and rubbing, frantically, rolling her head from one side to another. We feel so helpless, do we need to give the Aveeno longer to work? It did look better during the day today and she wasn't rubbing but she's started now she's in bed. It just feels like it's never going to get any better if she's rubbing it at night. Anyone been through this with their children? We are so worried about her, it looks like she's going to make it bleed at some point!

I can sympathise as my second son is a scratcher. We use "scratchsleeves". These are a huge lifesaver for us but won't be as useful if yours is a thumb sucker (because thumbs will be hidden). We use dummies and my ds can still pick his dummy up with the sleeve on.

When he's tired, my ds claws at my face when feeding and the sleeve stops him hurting me too!

What did the doctor say the rash is? Your description sounds like it could be impetigo rather than excma (although both can look like a burn). So maybe go back to the doctor on Monday or get a second opinion.

Thank you, it's weird you've. We ruined those because my hubby had just seen them on line and we've just ordered some! It was the pharmacist that said it was eczema, we are going to give it a few more days and see how it goes thanks

What did the doc say? Is it dry? Hold of chemical leaden products Johnsons etc natural oils..

What type of sheet is your DD sleeping on? Could it be the fabric that's irritating her skin? Or the detergent or fabric softener? Try using perfume-free non-bio detergent and do double rinses and don't use fabric softener. Do the same with her clothes and see if there's any improvement.
Don't bath her every day and just use plain water when you do.

Thanks all, the scratch sleeves will be here next week thank goodness! We haven't seen gp we went to a pharmacy. We use fairy non bio and the softener, will try with out the softener thanks. Thank you for all your advice everyone! We are just hoping something works!

Hallo. That sounds like baby eczema to me. Tends to aopear at your dd's age, and often starts at the sides of the face.

Our 7 month old has been sleeping terribly, scratching like mad. It's heartbreaking. After conflicting advice from different GPs, and no coherent plan for his treatment we saw a consultant privately this week and it's getting better and he's sleeping better already.

Do go back to the doctor and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! But if they confirm eczema, you'll need to zap it with steroids by the sounds of it.
