from cot to bed: an escapist?

Would it be tooo silly to change DS (25 months) to a single bed (getting a bed guard thing), giving that often he doesn't want to go to sleep?

WE have a routine: read the SAME story about the polar bear that goes to sleep, say a prayer and give him some water. So I could do the same if he goes to the bed. I want to change him because I'm sorry for his little brother (9 months), who is sleeping on a travel cot, the matress is not good and it looks small for him anyways. Also the wooden cot is smallish for DS1.

I really want to do it, but I'm concern that DS1 would escape and come to bed with us, or wonder around in the house .

Put a baby gate on his bedroom door, he will probably get out of bed but hten cant get out of his room, cant come to any harm

I have just put dd3 (2yo last week) into a bed - although it is about 15cm off the floor. She always escapes from the cot anyway and I thought it was safer in a low bed than falling from a cot side.
Her routine has not changed and she goes to sleep in excatly the same amount of time.

I don't think there is anything wrong as long as you feel they are mature enought to understand it. Iwould wait a while to give cot to his younger brother though - in case of jealous reactions.
