Wriggly waking baby!!!

Hi all, my LO who will be 6 months on Sunday is soooo wriggly he is constantly waking up in the night! I have him in a sleeping bag as it's impossible to keep any cover on him! At the moment he is rocked or cuddled to sleep (not completely asleep but almost there) and sleeps for a good 4 hours before the wriggling and waking up scenario starts. He can wake anything from 2 times (only happened twice) to 10 times a night!! Before he could roll onto his side he would wake maybe once or twice! Is there any tips out there to help with this or will he eventually learn to stay asleep when he wriggles/rolls about? At the moment when he wakes I give him his snuggly back and his dummy and he goes straight back off! Have I got him into a bad habit and should I try and not give him his dummy?

Thanks for any info/tips/help!

Tessie

There is a massive developmental leap at around 6 months, have a look at the wonder weeks website. There's not much you can do about it sorry, soon he will learn to roll back, then hopefully things will settle down again Smile

Hi JJJ, thanks for the website. He isn't rolling onto his front just from one side to the other then back again etc! He has been doing this for about 6 weeks now and it is absolutely knackering lol! I am back to work on Thursday as well so not looking forward to the next few weeks as we all get into a routine :(

Hope everything goes well on Thursday, I'm sure you'll both be fine. If you sign up for the wonder weeks emails they will let you know when the next leap is due Smile

My ds didn't get along with sleeping bags...when he rolled he got really tangled it in. I've bought some 2.5 togs sleep suits from Mothercare instead. They have quilted arms and legs.

Worth a try?

Hi Tessie - I so feel your pain!!! Ds was finally doing well at sleep then at around the 17 - 18 week mark he kept trying to roll in his sleep to the point of really waking himself up. Sometimes he can be settled with a cuddle but usually it's a feed. At 23 weeks he's still doing it! Soooo frustrating! I think we just have to ride it out.

Julia, he seems fine in the sleeping bags, in fact he goes to bed without one and then when he gets chilly I put him in his (normally while he is still asleep but rolling around) and it seems to settle him for a while! ab00, i'm thinking that too as nothing seems to work at the mo! It was his first afternoon at the childminder yesterday and ended going to bed 15 mins earlier than normal and only woke twice! Maybe that is what he needs although I spend all my time playing with him/feeding him etc when I am with him!
I am just looking forward to a night off soon when he goes to his Nanna's for the night x
Tessie
