14.5mo milk and bedtime

Dd is having a breastfeed in the morning still, cows milk for daytime nap, and for bed. She has her biggest feed of 7oz for bed, which is usually 7-730. This summer has thrown that out of whack as she's been on cows milk for bed for about 5 weeks now, and sleeps through (with a little murmur here and there) but she'll have her bottle for sleep then be up for another half hour to hour. She won't be sleepy immediately?

Dd1 use to have 5/6oz of cows milk in bed and go to sleep on her own willingly. Obviously they're all different. Bt she is tired, she just wants to play!

We do a dinner, bath, wind down bed routine but she won't be sleepy immediately or fall asleep until about a while after her milk. Anyone else?

What is her wind down bedtime routine and what is she doing in the half an hour she is awake ray?

Why should she necessarily fall straight asleep after milk? My DD never did. She's now 2.5 and for about the last six months she likes to lie there and count stuff or sing songs to her soft toys for up to an hour. As long as she's happy I've never minded. Even if she's knackered she'll usually prattle away for 15 mins.

I appreciate she's older but she never did fall asleep feeding even as a tiny tot!

Not saying she should. I'm just saying she gets irritated with herself it seems. Very tired but doesn't give in Smile

We snuggle, read stories etc

Isn't that a good thing though, so you have a chance to brush her teeth before bed?

Agree with fifi she doesn't need to fall asleep with the milk and most babies do grow out of it at some point. We did dinner, bath, teeth, story, milk then bed. They had a couple of books, some cuddly toys and some water in their cots but were then left to drift off. Obviously I wouldn't have left them if they were crying but found that they drifted of more easily without me there Smile

My point isn't exactly for her to fall asleep immediately. It's just as if age gets either a burst of energy or just fights her tiredness. Saying that she's gone to sleep willingly in her bed the past two nights.

I guess it's just phases & stages. Yes ultimately good as she will brush her teeth. It's just the fighting tiredness I was trying to point it at really Smile

Like you say, its just another stage. She used to fall asleep on the bottle, now she doesn't but when she's older she may again WineSmile
