Waking up screaming as if in pain

Hi, my ds (6 months) goeas to bed at 7, then very often wakes up between 2-6 times in the next hour. I sort of expect this as we recently started a stricter night time routine. But it's the way he wakes up, screaming as if in pain, really panicky. If given a cuddle he goes straight back to sleep normally. Has anyone experienced this??
Any suggestions???
Thanx

yep, we had this when ds was teething, also when he started to get separation anxiety at around that age he'd wake for no reason and be quite upset but cuddles would work instantly, we also have it every time he hits a developmental milestone eg his sleep got disrupted when he learned how to smile, then commando crawl, then real crawling, then standing...most of them really!
We learned that when his sleep is disrupted it means we need to change something in his daily routine. The most recent one was his daytime nap pattern, but at about 6 months I think we realised his bedtime routine and timing wasn't right and we shifted it about until we found the right one (2 or 3 nights was all it took) and hey presto all happy again!

Hope this helps! It will pass Smile

ds also done this during teething. i though it was night terrors at first. he done it a
t around six months and then again at 8 months when he cut his top two teeth. once they broke the gum he seemed to settle a bit better. it does pass.

DD used to sleep on her arms and wake up with pins n needles, she would scream that her arms were all fizzy, quite un nerving at first but not serious Grin
