This isn't the right place to post really but I am desperate for advice/support.
I have a hideous tummy bug (vom and poo) which I actually caught if 8mo DS. He had it last week and is fine now. I feel utterly terrible. DH is out at work all day tomorrow and has a v v important client meeting he cannot miss. We don't have any family locally who can help and all my friends work too.

How am I gonna get through tomorrow??

I don't suppose there's really any advice anyone can give me apart from 'ride it out' but would welcome nice positive stories from other women who have been in this situation. My DS is very spirited/demanding and don't non how I will get through the day

You soldier thru. This may be the first but it won't be the last. Break your rules about invested Naice parenting, if you need to feed him biscuits half the day to get thru, then so be it.

had a very spirited/demanding 22 month old DS and 2 month old DD to look after on my own when I caught the noroviris last year and I got through it by
*placing blankets/towels on the floor to sit on rather than trying to get us all on the sofa

  • bottles of water, snacks and nappy changing stuff close by so I didn't have to get up for those
  • having the tv on where usually it wouldn't be
I won't tell you it was easy, it was Hell and I passed out on my way to the bathroom from not eating enough at one point (was breastfeeding both DC as well) so make sure you try and eat something, dioralyte or similar is good if you can't keep enough down - but I got through it because I had to...and so will you. I know it's awful but in a few days it'll all be forgotten. get well soon Smile

ps; don't mean to sound unsympathetic. There are indeed few things worse than tummy bugs you catch off your kids

Mega toxic zone measures & hand-washing next time you suspect a bug might be lurking.

I had a horrible stomach bug on my birthday when ds3 was 8 months. My friend came round to bring me a birthday card and ended up taking ds for a walk in his pushchair. Fortunately it only lasted 24 hours but ds had it the next day. Sympathies.

You will get through it, i remember running out the room to be sick so my lo didn't see and then coming back through all (fake) smiles so he didn't think there was anything wrong with mommy :/
Just keep in mind it is just one day and this time tomoro you will have more support - I always try to remember if I have something looming that I am dreading that it is just 1 or 2 days out if my whole life and it helps me through.
Get better soon! Flowers

Bless you, it's HORRIBLE, especially in this heat. Will he watch TV? It can be a lifesaver in these situations, even if you wouldn't normally use it. Get your dh to move all nappy changing stuff / snacks for you and baby / lots and lots and lots of drinking water into your main room and prepare to hole yourselves up for the day. Baby will probably be grumpy, but almost certainly won't cry as much as you do. Horrid, but you'll get through it.

The only positive to come from this, is that once all of your kids are at school, you get the luxury of alone-time with a tummy bug. Who would have thought they'd ever be grateful for that? ;)

Ugh-poor you! Been there, done that!
Is your ds mobile? If so and things get desperate strap him in pushchair/ car seat and stick him in front of the tv for a while.
Snacks such as crackers / breadsticks which won't make you feel ill when you're watching him eat them.
Could your dh run out and get any of those little pouches tk make mealtimes extra easy?

I had to phone a friend to take dd away once as I just couldn't stop vomiting. I virtually threw her at her and ran back to the loo

Thanks for your sympathy and tips ladies, after a awful day spent mostly lying on the living room floor like a broken doll whilse DS (not mobile, thank god) hit me on the head with toys Hmm I am feeling much better now.

Hopefully that's the last of that for a good while.
