My DS is just over seven months old and has started to crawl, not properly but pulling him self he is getting quicker and quicker and gets around the room very fast when mum or dad are not looking, everyone who has seen him or i have told have said that this is very quick for 7 month old baby to be starting to crawl, are the just saying this? is it normal timing for babies to be crawling?

I would say average - in the nicest possible way Smile

All babies develop at different rates for different things - my DD didnt crawl at all but started walking at 9.5 mths.

My DS started crawling the same time as yours and at 13 months is just starting to walk now.

I thought that might be the case. Oh well at least he is getting there, not cut any teeth yet but has been teething for months now i think.

My ds started at 6 months and 1 day old. We were like 'this is cool' and really encouraging him and then he went to bed, dreamt how to do it properly and was all over the place the next day! He got into everything so quickly we didn't know what had hit us!! Next time round we won't be so quick to egg them on Wink

They are all different. DD talked and fed herself early but crawled/cruised and walked late.

DS is 7 months and is showing no signs of wanting to do anything other than sit in his bumbo smilling and cooing at everyone.

On saying that though DD was and still is fairly sturdy and DS is already 1 1/2 stone and only 10 inches shorter than his 4 yr old sister.

they are all so different. DD was 6.5 months when she started crawling but a friend of mine, her DD didnt crawl until she was about 10.5 months. Gives no indication of anything. Just that the parents of early crawlers dont get as much peace Wink
