Odd question but How are your dc sick?

This may seem a strange question but I'm wondering what others do.
I've got dd9 and ds6. when either of them feel sick I get out of bed and bring them downstairs where we sleep on the settee with a 'sick bowl' I find it easier as I can have a low light on and the kitchen at hand. They also don't seem to recognize the feeling of being sick before they're sick so I have to watch for signs etc. dd was ill whilst at someone else's house and the other mum commented that dd didn't seem to know to go the the toilet etc and was being sick where she was sat.

So am I strange for doing it this way, should I get dd to go to the toilet to be ill?

Not a massive worry but I wondering if I'm creating future problems

Mine aren't sick very often (thanks goodness), but I do try and get them to the loo. DS2 was sick last week, all over the bed and floor. Took ages to clean up.

Use a sick bowl here. My thinking being that when you're about to throw up, you want to do it quickly rather than try to find a toilet.

Sick bowl here
Very much doupt a young child would make it to the toilet tbh
(There's been times when I've struggled, especially sickness in pregnancy)
I think a sick bowl, where they can throw up with blanket round them, in front of fire, with a drink close by has got to be better than racing to toilet whilst trying to hold it in!

My sister's son always threw up all over himself...my DDs seem to know when it's coming and get to the loo or to a bowl...if they're ill, I give a bowl but they are older now....I watch my 5 year old more...at 9 and 6 they should be able to go to the loo to be sick really.

My dd is still a baby but when I was little my mum would always give us a sick bowl. prob wasn't until I was about 12ish that I used to run to the loo.

We use the old potty as a sick bowl, but they'll choose to get to the toilet themselves if they don't have the potty. (12, 9 and 5)
I can see where your friend's coming from though. I can't remember the last time I had to clear up sick except at night-and even then it's rare. They all would get to the toilet from preschool age and younger.
I don't know if them seeing me with bad morning sickness helped-I know dd1 learnt to be sick in the toilet at about 2.6yo, when I was pg with dd2. Sycronised sick. Nice. Wink
