15month old DD coming 'off the bottle!'

Hi everyone.

I just need adice about milk. My 15 month old DD is on cows milk and has been drinking about 5 bottles a day (dr brown bottles) But I have been told by acouple of people that she shouldnt be having a lot of milk now and should be on beakers. So have have tried to ween her on to beakers, which seems to be going well, she allready knows which one is juice and which one is milk. But she is now only having 1 beaker of milk throughout the day (obviously not as nice as her bottle) and about 4 beakers of juice. She still has her bottle before bed for now, as I dont want to change too much at once.

So am I doing this right?? And how much milk should she be having at this age?? (she eats well)

Any advice would be very much appreciated,

Thank you :)

I think at this age they need to be having about a pint of milk a day but this is not just from drinks, it'a also yougurt, sauces etc. My DS is 13 months old and has a bottle of formula when he wakes and before he goes to bed (8-9oz both times). He also has a beaker of milk when he wakes from his afternoon nap and other than that, all drinks are water.

Eventually, I'll get round to giving him his milk in the morning in a beaker but for now, I like our morning cuddle too much to stop Smile

my dd is 18 month and stopped having lots of milk at about 13 month, she went down to either one or two bottles a day and now thats maybe one maybe not. and yes that is still in bottles because its only when she hasnt eaten a lot the night before and is starving and wanting food at 5 am so a beaker isnt practical as shes half asleep (and i want her to go back to sleep)

as long as she does have one bottle/ beaker a day and eats cheese/yoghurt etc i wouldnt worry. 4 beakers of juice sound a good amount for her. dont worry to much, what you're doing sounds perfect!

I think it is actually 2/3 pint of milk/dairy after 12 months. 5 bottles does seem excessive. Mine were both down to 1 at that age (DS at night, DD in the morning) and both onto the magic cup by that age. DD is 2 next week and still has about 4oz but from an ordinary beaker of a morning. Just try and ensure she has plenty of dairy in her diet - good that she eats well.

my DD is 19 months and has refused to drink milk since she was about 14 months. she hasnt had a bottle since then either tough so maybe the two are related.

i think as long as they are getting enough calcium and things from alternativs like yogurt, cheese etc then i dont think there is any kind of minimum amount they should have.
i found that DD started to eat more as she stopped having s much milk as she wasn't filling up on the bottles.

Thank you all for your comments. I think that what I will do for now is give her a bottle in the morning, about 5oz. Then she can have a beaker throughout the day and a bottle before bed. The reason being that she can get grumpy 1st thing, and milk normaly cheers her up. Plus ahe has juice / water in the day too.
Do think this routine will be ok?

my Dd will be two on sunday, and she has about a pint a day. she still has a bottle too, for milk. At bedtime and in the morning.
I kept thinking i should take it away, but as she has no other comforter i dont see why she shouldnt have it really. She has all other drinks from a cup.

My ds 14 months has a beaker of formula milk (Cow and Gate next steps) in the morning (about 8oz) - he loves this and can't wait for this first thing in the morning. I still give him a bottle of formula before bed but will change this soon to a beaker, he has about 7oz in the evening. He has cows milk with his breakfast and juice during the day. Seems to work for him Smile
