DD wipes poo on the bed

I'm not a poo troll, but I have changed my name for this. I don't think I'm particularly well known, but just wanted to keep this separate.

DD is 3.3. She is fully potty trained and very rarely has accidents with wee. Never with poo. She's not yet dry at night. When she was about 2, before potty training began, she did a poo just after she'd gone to bed. She called me in and she had poo all over her hands and she'd wiped it all over the bed. I didn't react, just cleaned her and the bed and left it.

No more incidents happened until about 3 months ago. She has now done it about 6 times in the last 3 months. It always happens about 10-20 mins after going to bed. I've tried the gentle approach, telling her she just needs to call me and I'll always come. I've also tried getting her to poo at bath time, but it has only worked once.

However, tonight when I was putting her to bed I noticed poo on the duvet cover (she had a full nappy when she woke up) and I didn't react well. I raised my voice and told her off. I really don't know what to do or how to get her to stop. I've tried asking her why she does it but she just waffles.

Apologies for the length of this. I really hope someone can help me...

My DD did this. Deliberately. She even set out little 'ornaments' of poo in size order on her chest of drawers (also about 3.2, 3.3 I think). The worst time was in MIL's caravan last summer when she proudly redecorated the walls.

No amount of telling off etc helped. It stopped when she started having a regular poo before bed.

How about removing the nappy all together? With a waterproof sheet etc? My DD (now 3.6) took hers off a couple of months ago and has been dry (and poo free!) ever since.

Much sympathy!

Thanks Belinda. I think I will try that and see how we get on. She was dry just before Christmas, but DP didn't want to take the nappies off because we were going away. By the time we got back she was wet through the night again...

Mine was only dry for a couple of nights, then decided she was finished with nappies. Prior to that, her nappies were so full in the mornings, I never thought she'd start to last the night. Now she takes herself off to the loo (in the dark!) if she needs to in the night.

Good luck.
