Baby screaming

My DD is 4 and a half months old. She 'found her voice' about 6 weeks ago which is great but she has recently discovered screaming, and by screaming I mean reverberates around the walls, pierces your brain type scream. At first I really freaked thinking she was in pain but she does this when shes happy and smiling, when she's frustrated (she seems annoyed all the time atm) and started adding it to her unhappy crying.

She's been unwell over the past week with a sore throat (surprise, surprise) and the doc said to us to make sure we comfort her as soon as she cries, which we do and always have.

However, past few days she has been screaming, happy, sad, angry etc ALL day appart from when she's sleeping (which is hardly ever but thats a different story)

Please tell me this is a phase ad it too shall pass. I've loved all of her developmental things so far but this has got me at the end of my tether (I'm also quite ill atm)

Realiy, really feel for you on this one, but you are right, its just a phase.

If you are I'll are you getting any RL help?

Is her sleep the 4 month sleep regression or has she always been like that! Have you read Sound Sleep by Sarah Woodhouse?

I think she's going through a bit of regression. She's never been a good sleeper but we got down to 3/4 feeds a night (ebf) but for the past 2 weeks its been ever 1/2 hours, usually every hour and a half.

I have my mum down the road but she works. My DH works shifts, atm he is on nights so out all night and trying (bless him) to sleep in the day.

I normally do something with her every day, like a group or swimming etc but because I've had flu for the past week we've not done a huge amount.

I've not read that book but I'll def give it a go. Just hoping this phase passes soon, its like having a newborn again and I'm really struggling

Hope you feel better soon, know that's not easy with a little one.

Hi! My currently 6 month old started this at about 4 months. It's horrendous!
It's his current favourite noise! My tip is to teach him another noise that you prefer!
I blew lots of raspberries and he started doing that more than screaming.
He sometimes slips back into the screaming, usually when tired but by distracting him or doing a new noise I can usually stop him!
Good luck!

Thats a great tip. She's started with kind of raspberries so maybe I'll keep going with that.

Shes into sounds a lit at the mo so I'll keep trying lots of new ones.
